Nigerian actress, model, and entrepreneur, Erica Nlewedim, has been named the Most Popular BBNaija Star at the 2021 edition of the NET Honours People’s Choice Awards, one of the world’s most prestigious audience data-based awards.
NET Honours is an annual people’s choice award event that recognises top performers and events in the entertainment industry and public sector that have shaped the year through a thorough analysis of audience search results, consumer interest, social media interactions and trends. The Most Popular BBNaija Star award seeks to celebrate the BBNaija housemate who generated the most buzz on websites, social media and related channels of Netng, Neusroom, 234Star and Orin during the year in review.
In a category that also had Laycon, Ozo, Nengi and Lilo as contenders, Erica stood head and shoulders above the rest. She succeeds Tacha Akide, who won the same award at the NET Honours Class of 2020.
Erica Ngozi Nlewedim, a graduate of London’s Met Film School, already had a blossoming acting career before BBNaija, but the show helped boost her profile. She was an instant hit with the fans, and even though she was disqualified a few weeks to the end of the show, she earned herself a loyal fan base who call themselves the Elites.
With several endorsements from brands like Kuda Bank and Star Radler, Instagram followership of 1.6 million, and multiple movies in the works, “Star Girl” is set to remain relevant for a long time. She has been cast in a film called Devil In Agbada, set for release on July 2, 2021. In addition, she currently has her reality TV show, Inside Life With Erica, which premiered on MTV Base on June 9, 2021.
