The Department of Business Administration, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Class of 1998, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of their classmate, Mohammed Sani Sulaiman (MSS), the Regional Manager (North West) at Union Bank Plc, whose killing has been linked to kidnappers.

In a statement titled “Department of Business Administration, ABU Zaria, Class of 1998 (ABUBA ’98) Mourns the Tragic Loss of Mohammed Sani Sulaiman (MSS) – A Call for Security Intervention”, the alumni described his death as “a stark reminder of the urgent need for coordinated action against the escalating insecurity in our nation.”

According to the group, Sulaiman was murdered on Monday, August 4, 2025, along the Funtua–Gusau Road, while on official assignment visiting Union Bank branches in the North West.

“MSS recently took up a new role as Regional Manager (North West), overseeing several branches in the region. He was on duty when this tragedy struck,” the statement read.

The alumni lamented that his death reflects the alarming state of insecurity, which continues to claim countless lives. They pledged support for his immediate family during this difficult time while urging that “our collective grief must not be in vain.”

Key Demands from ABUBA ’98:

1. Immediate Government Intervention – Federal and State Governments must take decisive steps to address the root causes of insecurity and ensure the safety of all citizens.

2. Enhanced Security Measures – Implement robust security strategies, prioritizing the protection of human lives and property, especially in high-risk areas.

3. Support for Victims’ Families – Provide adequate assistance and compensation to families affected by insecurity, in recognition of their loss and suffering.

They also called on citizens, civil society organizations, and stakeholders to unite in demanding meaningful action against the security crisis.

The alumni concluded by extending heartfelt condolences to MSS’s family, praying for comfort and strength during their time of grief.
