The Federal Government has scrapped import duties on electric vehicles, mass transit buses, and key manufacturing machinery—an intentional move to lower the everyday financial strain on Nigerians and slow the pace at which prices are rising.

In practical terms, this means businesses can now bring in these items at a significantly reduced cost, which is expected to translate, over- time, into more affordable transportation, lower production expenses, and potentially reduced prices for goods and services. The policy is designed to ease pressure not just on companies, but on ordinary people who are directly affected by high transport fares and rising living costs.
This update was shared on Monday by Dada Olusegun via X.

The decision comes after Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed economic managers to urgently develop solutions that would shield Nigerians from external economic shocks, particularly the ripple effects of the ongoing Middle East crisis, which has contributed to rising fuel prices and increased cost of living.

At its core, this policy is about relief and stability, reducing reliance on expensive fuel, improving transport systems, supporting local production, and ultimately making daily life a bit more manageable for Nigerians.
