In a statement issued on Sunday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, explained that the works would take place between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily, to minimize disruption to daytime traffic.

He urged motorists to be patient and cooperate with traffic management officials during the period, stressing that working at night was a deliberate measure to reduce inconvenience and enhance traffic operations along the busy corridor.

What You Should Know

In addition to the Ozumba Mbadiwe works, Lagosians are reminded of the ongoing 110-day emergency repair programme on the Oworonshoki/Third Axial Bridge, which began on May 6 and will run until September 23, 2025.

The project is being executed in eight phases: the first four (May 6–July 14) addressed the inbound carriageway toward the Third Mainland Bridge, while the last four (July 15–September 23) focus on the outbound carriageway.

The repairs have necessitated partial lane closures, making alternative routes essential for easing traffic.

Alternative Routes for Motorists

Eko Bridge and Funsho Williams Avenue for those heading to or from Mowe and adjoining communities.

Ikorodu Road, Ojota Slip Road, and Anthony–Oshodi links for travellers from Ikeja and other mainland areas.

Maryland – Funsho Williams Avenue – Eko Bridge/Outer Marina as another option for Ikeja-bound commuters.

The government advised road users to plan their journeys ahead and use diversions where necessary to reduce travel delays.
