During his address at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York City, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States government will officially replace the term “Artificial Intelligence” (AI) with “Super Intelligence” (SI) across all official US documents.

- Reasoning Behind the Change: Trump argued that using the word “artificial” makes the technology “sound fake” when it is not. He stated that “super intelligence” is a much more accurate, elegant, and superior term.
- Social Media Surveys: The announcement followed polls floated by Trump on X and Truth Social, where he asked followers to vote on alternative names—including Superior Intelligence, Extreme Intelligence, and Supreme Intelligence—to replace what he described as an “inaccurate and ineloquent” label.
- Dismissal of AI Safety Risks: In the same address, Trump brushed aside warnings from experts regarding AI risks and regulations, calling fear-mongering around the technology a “hoax” and reiterating that the US will not stifle growth in an industry poised to be larger than the Industrial Revolution.
