A three-storey building in Wuse Zone 4 of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, collapsed on Monday evening, shortly after authorities issued a quit notice to its occupants.
No fatalities or casualties have been recorded at the time of this report, and emergency search-and-rescue operations remain underway.
Key details surrounding the incident include:
- Official Quit Notice Issued Prior to Collapse: Lere Olayinka, media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, confirmed that the FCTA Department of Development Control had served a quit notice to the building’s occupants earlier on Monday after the structure began exhibiting visible signs of structural distress.
- Emergency Response On-Site: First responders, including officials from the FCT Fire Service, were deployed immediately to the scene. Three ambulances are stationed at the location to deliver prompt medical care if required.
- Ongoing Operations: Rescue teams continue to inspect and clear the debris to guarantee that no persons are trapped under the rubbles.
