Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, transformed to the Federal Government with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding during the institution’s 17th Convocation Ceremony.
“We have formally sealed the transfer of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, to the Federal Government with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding during the institution’s 17th Convocation Ceremony.
With this historic step, the former TASUED has officially become the Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, marking a new chapter for the institution and reinforcing our shared commitment with the Federal Government to institutional stability, staff welfare, students’ interests, and sustainable growth.
This transition reflects our belief in promoting national equity through a more balanced distribution of federal institutions, while also honouring the enduring legacies of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Bisi Onabanjo, and the late Awujale of Ijebuland, whose contributions to education remain profound.
As a government, we remain deeply committed to strengthening education, which is why we allocated ₦275.4 billion to the sector in our 2026 budget to expand access, reduce inequality, and ensure that no child is left behind, regardless of background, tribe, or religion.
We are proud that this milestone was achieved seamlessly, preserving the university’s strong academic standing and 100 per cent programme accreditation.
We also commend the Federal Government for its renewed focus on educational reform and stability in the university system. With this handover, we have formally released the institution to the Federal Government, confident that this transition will unlock greater opportunities, strengthen teacher education, and further position the university for long-term growth and national impact.
We also extend our warm congratulations to the distinguished awardees, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, and Aremo Olusegun Osoba, on the conferment of their honorary doctorate degrees. These well-deserved honours celebrate their enduring contributions to education, leadership, and national development, and their lives of service remain a source of inspiration to generations of Nigerians.”
