Security agencies have intensified rescue efforts following the abduction of two staff members of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc (IBEDC). The workers were kidnapped on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, while performing official maintenance duties in the Ogunmakin area, a known transit point along the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road.
In an official statement released on May 4, IBEDC management confirmed the incident, expressing deep concern for the safety of their personnel.

The abduction occurred while the team was carrying out field assignments aimed at maintaining power infrastructure in the Ogun region. Unidentified gunmen reportedly ambushed the workers and “whisked them away” to an unknown destination.
