Overview of the Results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the official results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). This release provides insight into the performance of candidates nationwide and serves as a key determinant for their next academic journey into higher institutions or professional pursuits.

Major Statistics

A total of 818,492 candidates (60.26%) obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.

1,144,496 candidates (84.26%) recorded five credits or more irrespective of English and Mathematics.

These figures reflect the overall academic performance of students across the country in this year’s NECO SSCE.

Registration and Participation

According to NECO, a total of 1,367,210 candidates registered for the 2025 SSCE. This figure includes 685,514 males and 681,696 females.

Out of those registered, 1,358,339 candidates actually sat for the examination, comprising 680,292 males and 678,047 females.

Performance Trends

The results reveal encouraging trends in performance when compared to previous years. The relatively high percentage of candidates securing five credits with or without English and Mathematics suggests a level of academic stability. However, challenges still remain for candidates who struggle with the compulsory core subjects: English and Mathematics.

Impact on Students

These results play a critical role in determining students’ eligibility for admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across Nigeria. Since English Language and Mathematics remain mandatory requirements for most tertiary institutions, students who passed in these subjects alongside other credits stand a stronger chance in the admission process.

How to Check NECO 2025 SSCE Results

Students can easily access their results online through the NECO official portal. To do this, candidates will need:

           Their examination number

A valid NECO result checking token (PIN)

By visiting the NECO result-checking website, entering these details, and following the prompts, candidates can view and print their results instantly.

Closing Notes

Congratulations to all students who excelled in the 2025 NECO SSCE examinations. For those who did not achieve the required credits, this is not the end opportunities still exist to resit the examination or explore alternative academic and career pathways. With consistency and determination, success is within reach.
