King Charles III and his granddaughter, Princess Charlotte, stole the spotlight during the Royal Family’s Easter Sunday service at St. George’s Chapel. The exchange offered a rare, playful glimpse into the private bond between the 77-year-old monarch and the young princess.

As the family processed into the chapel on April 5, the King was seen giving 10-year-old Charlotte a teasing poke on the shoulder. The Princess of Wales’ daughter responded with a bright smile, an interaction witnessed by a grinning Prince William.

A Significant Return for the Wales Family
The outing marked a major milestone for Prince William and Kate Middleton, marking their first appearance at the traditional Easter service since 2023.
After missing the 2024 event following the Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis and opting for a private celebration in Norfolk in 2025, the family’s return to public Easter duties was met with significant interest. The Princess, 44, appeared in high spirits, sporting a sophisticated monochrome taupe skirt suit that coordinated with Charlotte’s tan overcoat.

Family Unity on Display
The service served as a broad gathering of the senior royals. Joining the King, Queen Camilla, and the Wales family were:
Princess Anne and her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence.
Prince Edward and his son, James, Earl of Wessex.
Prince George (12) and Prince Louis (7), who mirrored their father’s style in sleek blue suits.

Inside the Royal Household: William on Parenting
The public display of affection follows recent candid comments from Prince William regarding the “difficult” but rewarding aspects of raising three young children. Speaking at a mental health panel for BBC Radio 1 earlier this year, the Prince of Wales joked that his children are now very vocal about their emotions.
“I get all the details, which I love,” William shared. “You feel a sense that you need to fix it for everyone, and that I find quite difficult. I have to remind myself that you don’t need to fix everything—you just need to listen.”

A Season of Renewal
For many royal observers, the sight of the “Firm” back together at Windsor Castle signals a season of stability and renewal for the monarchy. The lighthearted rapport between the King and the next generation suggests that despite a challenging few years for the family’s health and public transition, the personal ties within the palace remain stronger than ever.
