The Kano State Government has delayed the reopening of both primary and secondary schools for the 2024/2025 academic year.
This was announced by Balarabe Kiru, Director of Public Enlightenment at the State Ministry of Education, in a statement issued in Kano on Saturday. According to Kiru, the Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Umar Doguwa, cited unspecified “urgent reasons” as the cause for the postponement.
Kiru relayed Doguwa’s message that a new resumption date will be communicated soon. He said, “The earlier announced dates of September 8th and 9th, 2024, have been postponed due to pressing concerns aimed at ensuring a conducive learning environment for our children.”
He also urged students, parents, and guardians to be patient and understanding despite any inconvenience caused by the delay. A new date for the resumption will be announced in the near future.
