The Nigerian Bottling Company Limited (NBC) has acknowledged a production error leading to the mislabeling of the zero-sugar variant of Limca Lime-Lemon at its Abuja factory.
This admission was made before the Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal, where NBC clarified that the mislabeling was accidental and not deliberate.
This issue is part of a broader dispute between NBC and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), which has imposed a ₦190 million penalty on NBC concerning the packaging of its Coke products, among other matters.
NBC, which holds the Coca-Cola bottling franchise in Nigeria, contests the FCCPC’s allegations of misleading trade descriptions and unfair marketing practices related to its Coke products, including the Original Taste and Less Sugar variants.
In summary, NBC has admitted to an accidental mislabeling of its Limca Lime-Lemon zero-sugar variant due to a production error at its Abuja facility.
This admission comes amid a legal challenge against the FCCPC’s ₦190 million penalty over alleged misleading labeling and unfair marketing practices concerning NBC’s Coke products.
